Meet the Staff
Dan Aivaliotis-Martinez is an Apple Distinguished Educator and the Coordinator of Innovation and Learning at St Hilda's School, Gold Coast Queensland.
Dan has developed STEM and STEAM focused projects across the Junior School at St Hilda's School including STEMFEST, a STEM workshop evening for students from Foundation to Year 6 hosted at St Hilda's School. Dan is currently supporting staff through the implementation the launch of his new directive called The Coding Institute which will ensure that all students from prep to year 6 at St Hilda's School participate in dedicated coding lessons as of 2017. Dan has also worked closely with Middle School faculty members to introduce Swift Playgrounds as part of the year 7 coding curriculum.
In 2012, Dan implemented St Albans Meadows Primary School's 1:1 iPad program for students from grades 4-6. The innovative iPad program initiated by Dan was recognised by Apple and is included in their Apple Distinguished Program scheme.
With over 14 years’ experience as a classroom teacher and technology coordinator, Dan has worked in a variety of education environments and institutions both in Australia and overseas. As a passionate IT curriculum leader, he has developed and delivered whole school IT curriculum, including the introduction and adoption of Apple technology as a learning solution to meet specific needs in classrooms and across whole schools. To further support this, Dan has developed a number of workshops on integrating Apple technology to enhance teaching and learning which he has delivered to the wider education community.
A confident public speaker who can communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, Dan has presented at a number of international and national based education seminars. His passion for providing engaging and creative learning opportunities for all learners drives him to build teacher confidence through Peer Coaching and Professional Learning so that transformative learning to occur.
